So I've been thinking . . . I know I'm not a mod, but I do want to speak my mind about the price of ships and aircraft. I think there's a problem here. While I can buy a small ship for $100, the smallest plane I can buy is 6 times that price. A frigate costs significantly less than a fighter jet. This seems a bit odd to me, considering that an air force has thousands of fighter jets, whereas a good sized navy has between 20-30 frigates. Example: the United States Navy, the largest navy in the world, has just 27 frigates, but over 3700 aircraft. To be fair, most of those aircraft are probably helicopters. However, even assuming that the Navy has 3000 helicopters, the cost in Grand Conquest would still be approximately:
Frigates: $9450 Helicopters: $750000 Aircraft: $700000
Bluntly put, that's not the way it's supposed to work. Sorry if I'm being whiny. I don't really care that much if no changes are made, and it doesn't seem like anyone's really exploiting this (yet). My suggestion: multiply all the ship amounts by 50. That should solve the problem. Then the costs for ships would be:
Small Ships: $5000 Frigates: $17500 Destroyers: $25000 Cruisers: $60000 Submarines: $125000 Battleships: $250000 Carriers: $250000
Once again, just a suggestion. I really don't care that much.

YES!
Finally.
I saw Martyr attacking with 50 Prometheus carriers. How is that possible?
Plus, Heavy Bomber prices should be raised, too, IMO. They are extremely cheap, compared to a tank (An MBT costs 2,000, while a heavy bomber costs 2,000 as well.)

Woo constructive criticism on prices I've been waiting ages for that. I will actually look into this after I wake up because it will require thinking and math. So I'll be back in like 8 hours or so.

Meh, I always assumed it was a sort of huge mosh pit thing The only reason I brought 50 was to house my huge Air Force. I almost agree that prices should be tweaked, heck, all of them should be tweaked IMO.

Btw guys, don't end up comparing the prices 'too' much to real life, after all, in real life nations have budgets in the Billions of dollars, not millions.

I would like to point out that these prices were set up for a time before we were all millionaires. As it stands, each and every one of us can afford an epically big army capable of swatting aside the US Military like so many flies. I just think we need to tweak the prices to support seven digit budgets rather than five digit ones. /:

All I care is that all the prices are proportional. The price of jets doesn't need to come down so much as the price of ships needs to go up.

Yond, I'm thinking from a realistic standpoint; as it stands we're dealing with an epic case of inflation. I do realize some of us aren't very rich, but as of right now we can build unrealistically huge militaries.

So here's how I think we should implement this:
1. Reset on all naval ships; all units reduced to 0.
2. Price change as detailed above.
3. New class: boats. A boat is any water vessel that can be carried on another ship (e.g. landing craft, RIBs, lifeboats, minisubs). Cost: $500/vessel. Basically replaces the old "Small Ships" class.

I think, during the reset, we should return the money that it cost to buy the ships. I spent around 5 million on them.

Yea I was thinking it should move here too. Most recent:
Helicopters:
Scout: $750 Light: (Westland lynx size) $1000 Medium: (Blackhawk size ish) $2000 Heavy: (Sea Stallion ish) $4000 Heavy Transport: $3000 Tilt-Rotor: $5000
Light Gunship: $1750 Medium Gunship: $3000 Heavy Gunship: $5500
Small UAV (Armed): $2000 Large UAV (Armed): $3000
Airforce:
-Scout: $3000 each -Light Fighter: $4000 each -Heavy Fighter: $7000 each -Light Bomber: $5000 each -Heavy Bomber: $10000 each -Airship: $2000 -Seaplanes: $1000 more than conventional counterparts each, - WiG (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ground_effect_vehicle) : $7000 each
Ok, Icy why do you think they should be cheaper? And/or how do you think they should compare in battle to other things? Also, I think I'm going to change Light/Heavy fighter to Interceptor/AirSup fighter unless someone thinks that'd be a bad idea.

Actually, I ran the calculations, and, though it would be significantly more expensive to buy, the cost of my air force is only $2000000 than my navy. With the way that I divide it up between my ground forces and navy, I think that's fair. Sorry about that; just the figures and costs scared me for a second. It'll take me about three days to rebuild, but I'm okay with that, because everyone else will have to as well.
I agree about differentiating the roles. I agree that we should add interceptor, air superiority, and ground attack designations. I also think we should get rid of the heavy and medium tank designations; those have sort of been folded into the main battle tank class.

And I do want the airforce and navy to both be more expensive than the army, since they really are IRL. Should I up the prices of ground vehicles too?

I don't think it's necessary. I spent 17 million on infantry and 20 million on vehicles and artillery. Also, one last thing: we should add electronic warfare planes at $7500/plane.

Maybe we'd be better off with unit caps. I think I originally opposed them, but if we make them fluid and based on income or number of countries controlled . . . but then that's unfair to people who joined later and can't invade other countries. Sticky.
Well, after I rebuild I won't be buying any more units.
