Still, what will we be doing from 2040 to 2250? Nothing at all! No new techs = no new units designed, etcetera. There should be a new tech auction every week from 2040 to 2250, to keep the game playable and make you be on your feet making new units all the time, and so that someone had an advantage to keep tensions.
Also, the ten mil limit. That needs to change soon, when everyone with 10 countries will be as powerful as a 25 country nation. We need to think of something new...
EDIT: Time travel... no, maybe for RP but def not game affecting okay?
(I'll let you guys in on something: I made Prokhor Zakharov a time traveller. He was born in 1994 if you do your research, and when on Alpha Centauri used a longevity vaccine [lol why not, that's what he did in the game]. Goes back to the forming of the Soviet Union, becomes leader and boom. He'll be my avatar forever, it's basically an excuse for not finding new leaders.)

I think 2040 - 2050 would be a great time to play with bioenhancements, exoskeletons, and unconventional firearms. I think we can have more than enough of that to field some pretty cool units.
Also, do you think nothing cool is going to be invented in the next 200 years IRL?

We get exoskeletons in 2014! Check the tech list.

yeah, but by 2040 they'll be crazy, no? I envisioned the comparison between 2014 exoskeletons and those made in 2050 would be like the comparison between aircraft made in the early 20th century to aircraft made in the late 20th century.

more powerful, better armoured, faster, etc. We could even devise a classification system to price them out better.

I also imagine stretching the auctions out to have only one per 5 years. Lets keep editing this until we get it right 2014: Exoskeletons LVL1, Invisibility Illusions Tier 2 + 3 2019: Ion Cannon Satellite, 6th Generation Jets 2024: Lasers Tier 1, Advanced AI LVL1 2029: Space Pods*, Space Jets 2034: Railguns Tier 2, Artificial Muscle LVL1 + 2 2039: Lasers Tier 2 + 3, Advanced AI LVL2 2044: Asteroid/Planetoid Mining, Advanced AI LVL3 2049: LVL1 Hover Tanks**, Artificial Muscle LVL3 2054: LVL2 Hover Tanks** 2059: Colonization of Mars, Mechs LVL3 2064: Invisibility Illusions Tier 1 2069: LVL3 Hover Tanks 2074: Exoskeletons LVL2 2079: Exoskeletons LVL3 2084: Railguns Tier 3 (Only on LVL3 Exoskeletons) 2089: Interstellar Flight LVL1*** 2094: Plasma Weaponry Tier 1 2099: Pulse Weaponry LVL1 2104: Interstellar Flight LVL2**** 2109: Antimatter Bombs, Plasma Weaponry Tier 2 2114: Pulse Weaponry LVL2 2119: Antimatter Weaponry Tier 1 2124: Pulse Weaponry LVL3 2129: Plasma Weaponry Tier 3 2134: Antimatter Weaponry Tier 2 2139: 2144: Antimatter Weaponry Tier 3 (Hey dude, let the ion cannon be, it's pretty much like an artillery barrage.) Tier 1 = Ship mounted, Spaceship mounted, huge cannons Tier 2 = Tank Mounted Tier 3 = Infantry Portable LVL1 = Light LVL2 = Medium LVL3 = Heavy *Pods launched from a space station in orbit with military personnel in it **Tracked and Wheeled are perfectly acceptable and not obsolete, however, hovers have faster speeds. ***Interstellar Flight LVL1. The basic interplanetary travel to Alpha Centauri. Similar to Earth, divided into territories. Map will be provided. ****Interstellar Flight LVL2. More advanced, 4 more planets uncovered. *****Interstellar Flight LVL3. Most advanced. Unlimited travel.

I like that list, but I'll play with it a little when I get time. There's a lot of stuff from D20 Modern Future I'd like to think about adding. But I do like the every 5 years thing after we hit "future" tech.
As for incomes, the caps will get boosted somehow, but you'll have to pay for the boosts. I understand that things will get boring if everyone is stuck at 10mil income even with more land, but I still want to keep things playable for people with less than that. It's a hard thing to balance.

Of course.
As for the list, lets just take a look into scifi games and books and see what they got. Some good ideas, maybe.

I noticed that we don't have aerospace craft listed on the tech list. Basically, aircraft powered by fusion engines that are capable of flying in both space and inside the atmosphere. Usually bigger than average aircraft. www.sarna.net/wiki/Aerospace_fighter

Dude, post techs in 4 year increments. AKA 2004, 2009, 2014, etc

Cold fusion... in 2005? And Space artillery in 2015? Alice, if you know something you aren't telling the rest of the world...

Simple: we'll invite the future techs a little earlier than IRL for one reason: we don't want to wait an entire year IRL to get ion cannons.
On another note, have you seen the proposed tech list up there? Also, space artillery isn't bad, it's simply a naval gun floating around in space.

True, but cold fusion is still almost non-existant, even in 2012. I think it should be pushed back, considering it's fairly useful tech.

I think cold fusion is more of a 2050 type thing, seeing as we're not even close to it right now.
Also, I can't see space artillery being at all practical. The price of packing ordinance into orbit seems like it would overshadow the potential gain. You've also got the positioning problems to worry about.

Actually, I don't agree with you, Shark. I think it would be quite simple, lobbing a satellite into orbit with a bunch of missiles in it.
Holy *, it just hit me...
We can make a grid. One satellite cost x money, and you can put one into orbit into one grid square, similar to ocean, only this time, it's land only. But it should be very expensive, and you can only put it on top of land close to yours, like a defence system.

Hell, why not just use the ocean grid? It'd still work, wouldn't it?

Yep, but why put random sattelites over the ocean?

Remember that it costs half a billion to do a space launch, so about 5x a battleship per reload.
As for grids and all that, why don't we just let our satellites move about in high orbit? One day is about 9 months, so it is more than feasible to imagine a military satellite positioning itself over a battlefield in a couple of our hours.

We aren't trying to reflect real life here, remember? It doesn't have to be that costly.
In fact, I was thinking of the Saddam cannon. Welding two Iowa guns together and launching the thing into space. Feasible and cheap.

Hmmm that's an interesting idea... I hadn't thought of that. There are a couple problems, mostly g-force problems, but as long as the satellites are rugged, simple, and unmanned, that shouldn't be a problem. That way, we'd need a big initial investment (le space gun), and we could have cheap(er) satellites. There is still the reloading problem, unless we want them to be single use.
