I have some bad news. I was carrying around a Nalgene bottle of water in my backpack and it spilled, wrecking my books and frying my computer. It'd probably cost about $700 to get it fixed, if it's even fixable. I'm writing this from a school computer. So, I am probably going to be extremely limited in posting. Consider me on vacation mode for a bit, maybe four or five days. I will also not be on the IRC, or working on basically anything other than school work on a computer.
Now, the good news is I will probably get a new computer. It would cost about the same price as getting my Mac fixed. And it would be a nice computer as well. I may also try some things my friends suggested (putting it in a bowl of rice apparently can fix it, but there's no guarantee) and taking it to the Apple store to see if I can at least extract my hard drive if it truly is busted. Hopefully, that's not too expensive of a job.
So here's the list of scenarios from best to worst:
1. Computer is fixed overnight via rice or magic 2. Get a new computer 3. Computer is fixed at Apple store 4. Computer unfixable. No new computer.
In all except the first and the last, it will probably be 4 or 5 days, maybe a little longer. If it is the last, expect this to be my final communication with you. But, I consider that extremely unlikely; I need a laptop for school as well and my parents will probably agree to me getting a new one if this one is completely broken.

OK, so my computer is definitely beyond a quick fix. I will be taking it to the Apple store tomorrow, but I think they're just going to tell me what I already know: it's broken and it'll be expensive to fix. (Sending it off) So, if any of you have suggestions of computers to get or parts in computers to look for, be my guest. I'm looking for something that can run most games with graphics on ultra (maybe Battlefield 3 and Crysis as well), but still is a good bargain, i.e. under $1000, preferably under $700. I'll also be talking to my more computer savvy friend tomorrow for some suggestions, though this is currently my top choice:

To contribute to the bad news topic of this thread, someone stole my wallet today with 40 bucks, my bus pass and ID. No where near as tragic as Icy's experience but still

Okay, so the computer is definitely dead. The entire inside is corroded, and it'll be about $805 to fix. I will be taking it to another shop to get the hard drive out, as that seemed to escape most of the damage.
So, in short, good news: new computer! Bad news: old one is dead, and I don't exactly know when I'm going to get the new one.

So remember when I said it would be about 4 or 5 days. That seems to have turned into about 3 weeks, if I am to trust the Lenovo website. They said they could get it shipped by 25/10/12, and I don't know if that's just a ship date or a date of arrival. Hopefully, that date is incorrect, and they can get it to me faster.
So, I will probably be on a little more than I thought I would be able to, considering that I do still have two desktops to work with, plus school computers. I probably won't make any more things, as downloading programs is a royal pain because I don't have admin privileges on this desktop, and every download practically requires an admin password.
In other news, on Monday I'm probably going to get my driver's license.

Good news: I can now operate motor vehicles in the state of California.
Bad news: It's going to be about two and a half weeks before my new laptop shows up.

Further bad news: as far as I know, my computer won't be coming for another two week, probably November 15, though it could come on November 9. Or it could come when I expected it to. I just don't even know anymore.
