A new revolutionary movement, inspired by radical leftist action in the middle east, cobbles together the remains of AIM and other resistance movements, including Nigerian refugees. Funded by a surprisingly wealthy Nigerian Prince who just needed a downpayment to transfer the money, the New African Revolution of the People captures and fortifies Bamako with: 150 Riflemen 50 SMGs 50 DMRs 25 MANPADs 20 AT equipped jeeps 20 AA equipped jeeps 10 MBTs 5 SAM trucks
The terms of the merger treaty state that you must: 1. Locate and retrieve President Jacques Kulos. He is being held somewhere in the city, if you do not find and rescue him in 4 turns, he will be executed. 2. Eliminate NARP troops. 3. Destroy a communications centre downtown. This building houses NARP rebels, and has been broadcasting radical leftist propaganda throughout the region.
You may complete the objectives in any order, but you are advised to be watch your fire before you have located the president. If you kill him, accidentally or on purpose, you will face the ire of the Mali military as well as the NARP rebels.

Artillery is to move into a tactically advantageous position, but are ordered to hold their fire for the time being. Infantry and armor takes to the city, using controlled fire to eliminate targets. Their main goal is to neutralize the SAM trucks, to allow for surveillance by air in order to locate President Kulos.

the NARP rebels are poorly trained and equipped, no match for the 21st century African Army.
Your Troops easily neutralize the SAM trucks, as well as 15 riflemen and 4 AA jeeps. You lose 14 KAR riflemen and a Savage.
4 turns until President Kulos is executed.

The frantic movements of the NARP troops make it difficult for your observers to pick out Kulos, especially while AA jeeps fire on your helicopters. 7 Stormpetrels and 5 Hammerkops are shot down, but they manage to thin out 10 AA jeeps. Your pilots assure you that they can find Kulos, if they are given more time. Your troops eliminate an additional 20 Riflemen and 5 AT jeeps, at the cost of 2 Rocketeers and a Bushbuck.

The Savages are to regroup and concentrate on the AA jeeps that I totally didn't read hard enough to realize were there. Air units are to withdraw to a safe location until the threat is neutralized. All other units are to redouble their efforts.

With the skies clear, the helicopters resume their search. In addition, ground forces are encouraged to take prisoners that can be interrogated as to the whereabouts of the Malian president.

Interrogations provide the building where the Malian president is being held, and your thermal scans show his exact location. Rescue him this next turn or face the consequences. thermals show 6 SMG armed guards.

A small strike team of 4 KAR2 wielding soldiers is assembled and tasked to the rescue of the Malian president. Using their compact bullpup design to their advantage, and utilizing smoke grenades and thermal vision, they will surround the building and neutralize the guards.

Your men break down the door just in time. The video feed meant to broadcast the murder of President Kulos instead catches only smoke and muzzle flashes. When the smoke disperses, the camera feed shows only the dead guards. How embarrassing.
News of your rescue spreads to the NARP men, demoralizing them greatly. About 10% of their infantry flee into the city, the rest pull into the comms centre for a last stand.

All units engaged near the comm center are ordered to take cover, and a missile strike from the waiting Spitting Cobras is called in on the building. In the aftermath of the explosion, Gorillas and Pythons launch a salvo of ordnance at known hostile locations. Following the artillery strike, Infantry and Armor move in to finish the rebel forces.

The blast of the SRBMs turns the reinforced comms centre into ash instantly. Your men search through the charred remains, but find no targets worth engaging. Congrats, you win this battle. Mali will net you 7k per day. You lose: 24 KAR riflemen, 2 Savages, 3 Bushbucks, 7 Stormpetrels, 5 Hammerkops, and 4 Rocketeers.
