With it's proven oil reserves pushing it's economy, Algeria is prepared to ward off APA advances. The main battle will be at the Issaouane Erg; rocky, dry mountains submerged in an ocean of sand. Your main enemy will be high winds and sweltering heat. Both APA and Algerian troops will lose effectiveness in the heat of the sun. The Algerians use the rocks and nearby petroleum drilling camps for cover both from your troops and the oppressive sun. Their army consists of: 200 Assault Rifles 25 DMRs 25 LMGs 10 Light tanks, optimized for the desert climate 10 Heavy Assault Helicopters 1 Prop-Driven Gunship 2 SAM platforms, nestled into the drilling sites.

The Flycatchers will be placed strategically, to minimize the threat from hostile aircraft. In the meantime, 5 Savages loaded with troops are dedicated to eliminating the SAM platforms. Until they are successful, all other units are on standby.

The first SAM is eliminated without incident, along with 14 Algerian Riflemen and a Gunship. The Second Sam is better protected, 4 Light Tanks attack your approaching IFVs. The Savages' autocannon is able to tear apart the light armour, especially where additional cooling vents have been added. The Light Tanks take out 2 Savages before being destroyed, and your remaining IFVs destroy the last SAM.

The Stormpetrels are loaded with infantry and move out low over the rocky lansdcape, keeping out of the harsh wind. Their main objuctive is to land a force behing the enemies so that they can attack on the ground from all sides. They are covered by the Hammerkop helicopters, and togthether, they advance towards the enemy forces. On the ground, the infantry and armor advance towards the enemies as well. Before the forces clash, the Weavers will do a strafing run, focusing on enemy armor with air to surface missiles.

Your Weavers are easily able to destroy the Algerian armour, as well as the remaining Helicopter gunships. You are also able to push 20 Algerian riflemen out of cover and into the range of your troops, they are quickly killed. However, as your men advance towards their target, the enemy gunship takes to the air. It destroys one Bushback with cannon fire. your Troops fire on the algerian infantry, thinning their numbers by about 20%. You lose 6 KARs and 5 KMPs.

The Weavers are to re-route and attack the gunship, using air-to-air missiles and autocannon fire to take it down. All other units are to redouble their efforts.

The gunship is no match for your interceptors and crashes down into the rocky desert. Without armour or air support, the enemy infantry is quickly cut down by your troops. Congrats, you have liberated Algeria from the African Independence Movement. Your prize is $7,000 per day. Your total losses: 1 Bushbuck 24 KARs 12 KMPs 4 KMGs 2 Savages
